I am sending you this post because on behalf of Bigalbi Arquitectos we want to announce that we finally have a website. Our website, still in process, has been on the Internet for some time and we finally think it’s time to make it public. In any case, we urge you all to get in touch with us whenever you find any mistakes or erratas.

That being said, we would like to introduce ourselves now that we have a website standing by us. We are Bigalbi Arquitectos, an Architecture studio 3.0.

Why 3.0?

Because we propose a well managed architecture, with the best tools and systems, and always pursuing a design that befriends and benefits the client and the environment.

How have we been able to become an Architecture studio 3.0?

We didn’t start from scratch. Bigalbi Arquitectos is a studio that emerges from a family studio, Estudio Galdos, where we have participated and collaborated and where the gained knowledge goes back two generations.

After the crisis, the professional world in the Architecture and Construction field changed radically and we realized we had to evolve. Therefore, as Bigalbi’s partners we decided to invest in self-udpdating, training and gaining experience in the newest precesses, systems and tools, in order to create an Architecture studio that would be in the vanguard.

Hence, we carried out a training plan that had as a cornerstone the three pillars that we considered basic in what we calla n Architecture studio 3.0: Management, technologic vanguard and eco-design.

What is our strategy when it comes to management?

Management is key in any business or project. Therefore, our first measure was to study a first class master degree in order to enter the management world, the MBA Construction Management master degree, formerly called Master Degree in Building and Construction Management. Said Master Degree has given us the tools and a global knowledge about the whole management world, specially in the building and construction field. Thanks to this master degree, we have been able to take the leap in order to fearlessly carry out intenational collaborations and have a constant control of the situation. Thanks to this master degree, we opened our mind a lot and among other things we decided to certify one of our parnerts as Project Manager, an essential role in the international field of building and construction. Having deepened into PMI and PMP certification has been an important leap in our internationalization.

Lastly, when it comes to management strategy, we didn’t want it to be something only customizable for our partners but for it to be a root element inside our structure and our company’s. Therefore, our last implementation action has been to get ready and organise our Company under the ISO 9001 standards. Soon, we are going to get certified with this seal of quality in order to guarantee both our clients and our collaborators that our involvement with management and the quality system is total.

What is our strategy when it comes to technological vanguard?

Technological vanguard is key in a studio’s productivity. Currently the architecture world has evolved a lot technologically and this makes a much better final product since it makes to team work easier, with always udpated files, mistake detection, a more complete planning… That’s why our strategy has been to get trained and train our team in all of BIM tools. In a certain way, the whole team Works under this collaboration processes and we have achieved to optimize our work and our product. But we haven’t only focused on training. We consider that Bigalbi Arquitectos is not only an Arquitecture studio 3.0, but also a BIM Consultancy. Going further than the traning aspect and taking all this knowledge into practice, we have achieved to consolidate as an experienced BIM Consultancy and we count on our collaborators’ trust. Having collaborated with different international studios for a long time and taking part in international multidisciplinary teams in projects of all sorts, has reinforced our foundations.

What’s more, we go further than technological vanguard within our architectural working tools, we are also in the technological vanguard of our management tools. In Bigalbi we have decideed to initiate together with ISO standards, an online management system in order to manage all the information of the studio and out project keeping them updated and accesible from anywhere. We use the Atlassian tools, Jira and Confluence.

Jira is an online planning and monitoring tool that together with Confluence, an online data base, makes the management of the studio easier from any location, as well as all the projects in process.

What is our strategy when it comes to eco-design?

Eco-design to us is the most important pillar in our concept of Architecture studio 3.0 because we consider it is the future. Architecture and design must change and evolve towards a future where buildings won’t only be non-polluting nor energetically self-sufficient but also energy producers. Our world grows more every day and a basic good for the human being is their house and their life inside. Therefore, we consider that we have to focus on chaning the perspective of people towards this basic good and take the maximum bioclimatic profit possible.

Our strategy has consisted in studying the master degree on Efficient Building, Energy and Environment Restoration in Universidad Europea de Madrid. After this master degree, biocalimatic design, as well as project environmental parameters, take an essential part of its conception and its structural design, understanding it as a base pillar of the future and present construction carried out by us. Even though we decide to take further the knowledge gained in the field of energy efficiency and hence, one of our partners has been certified as a Passivhaus designer in order to be able and have the skills to design Near-zero buildings.

Finally, and continuing with the idea of joining management and design, we are shortly going to get certified of ISO14006 in eco-design and ISO14001 in Environmental Management Systems. ISO14006 to prove our engagement with eco-design and ISO14001 to prove that we are absolutely coherent in our involvement with this issues and we also engage in our work space with the right management of our resources.

In Bigalbi we are very pleased with the evolution we have reached, the results we are seeing and specially with the satisfaction that our clients and collaborators are notifying us. We are constantly evolving and we are available for carrying out any kind of project or collaboration with you.
